Scoil Áine, Merlin Park, Galway

Welcome

The staff of Scoil Áine welcome you to our website.  Our school is a bright, welcoming environment nestled in a wooded landscape in Galway.  Our experience tells us that a caring, fun, nurturing atmosphere reaps rewards.  We enjoy working with our children and adolescents to support their recovery, rebuild their confidence and guide them in their return to their own schools.

Enjoy our school. Regards, the Scoil Áine team.

Our Mission Statement

  • Our school provides a safe, caring and therapeutic environment for all – students, staff and visitors.
  • Our team strives to nurture each individual’s strengths and talents and we encourage the development of tolerance and respect.
  • Our goal is to enable our students to successfully rejoin their own school communities.
  • Our mission is to support our students with their educational, social and emotional challenges

How Scoil Áine works

Scoil Áine accepts primary and post primary students for a period of placement from their school while they are under the care of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Our four classrooms have a maximum of 6 students per class.

We have a highly motivated and dedicated staff of 4 teachers, 4 special needs assistants and 3 social care staff. We work together in a carefully structured way to create a secure, happy and therapeutic learning environment.

Our aim is to give each student the opportunity to grow emotionally, socially and academically, to cope with, and overcome, individual difficulties identified by the CAMHS team and to do this at the student’s individual pace.

We tailor the relevant Department of Education and Skills (DES) Primary and Post Primary curricula for each student based on their individual strengths and challenges.

Confidentiality is integral to the daily workings of Scoil Áine.

Scoil Áine is a non-denominational school with a fully constituted Board of Management under Diocesan patronage.
